Guide to Ordering Ladders & Hardware

1.  Choose your Hardware Finish:

  • Black - Matte Finish
  • Satin Nickel - A soft silvery brushed finish.
  • Oil Rubbed Bronze - A rich, deep brown finish
  • Hammered Antique Brass - Great for a classic, old-style decor.

2.  Choose your Hardware Choose a Hardware Kit, which comes with 2 Top Guides, 2 Bottom Wheels, and seven ladder Rung Supports.  If you are not ordering a ladder, select the Components option. NOTE:  If you are ordering a 9 ft. ladder, add one extra Rung Support.  For a 10 ft. Ladder, add 2 extra Rung Supports.

3.  Choose your Hardware Type:  Rolling, Rolling Hook or Hook with either Braking or Non-Braking Wheels (Contemporary Wheel comes in Non-Braking Only).

  •     ROLLING HARDWARE - The ladder attaches permanently to the upper rail with rollers and glides back and forth on the rail. Use with a curved rail to glide around corners.
  •    HOOK HARDWARE - The ladder attaches to the upper rail by hooking nto the track and can be manually moved along the rail. The  ladder may be lifted off the rail and moved to another location. NOTE: Cannot be used with Curved Corner Rails.
  •     ROLLING HOOK LADDER - The ladder attaches to the rail with a hook and roller and can be rolled along the rail.  The ladder may be lifted off the rail and moved to another location.  NOTE: Cannot be used with Curved Corner Rails.

4. Determine how many feet of  Rail you will need, then select either our 4 ft., 6 ft. or 8 ft rail sections. (Rails can be cut to shorter length). Curved Corner Rails extend 37 in. on each side, so be sure to subtract this from your straight rails.

5. Select how many  Brackets, spaced 32 in to 34 in. apart, you will need . NOTE: Rolling and Rolling Hook Hardware will use either Vertical or Horizontal Brackets; Hook
Hardware only uses Vertical Brackets.

6. Select the number of Splice Kits you will need (How many rails will you be joining together?)

7.  Choose your End Stops for your Rails: Each kit comes with two End Stops.  Choose either a Flat or Ball-Type End Stop. Also select a TAP for inserting the End Stop into the ends of the rail.

1.  Determine Your Ladder Height:  Measure from the floor up to where you will place the center of the rail.  Then add 5 in. to that measurement; this will give you the height of your ladder; e.g. if the center of your rail is at 91 in., then your ladder will be 96 in.

2.  Choose your Wood Species and Height:

  •      In-Stock Ladders: 8 ft, 9 ft or 10 ft in Red Oak, Cherry or Maple. 
  •      Custom Ladders:  up to 10 ft.  Choose from eleven wood species.  Custom ladders take 3 weeks prior to shipping, but orders can be expedited for a $50 fee.

2.  Add Hand Rails (optional):  Wooden Handrails are available in Red Oak, Maple and Cherry.  Please contact us if requesting other wood species.

3.  Add non-skid Step Treads (optional):  These clear non-skid treads adhere to ladder steps.

1.  Choose your Door Strap from eleven styles and your Hardware finish from Black, Satin Nickel or Oil Rubbed Bronze.

2.  Determine how many feet of rail you will need. Rails come in 4 ft, 6 ft and 8 ft lengths.

3.  Choose your Bracket: Short accommodates rolling barn doors up to 1 - 1/2 inches thick; Long accommodates rolling barn doors up to 2 - 1/4 inches thick. We recommend one bracket every 16 in.

4.  Choose your End Stops - Regular (flat) or Ball-type. End Stops prevent the door from sliding off the rail.

5.  Add a Center Guide if you do not want your door to swing free.  This will keep your door in place.

5.  Add Floor Guides (2 per door); these prevent the door from rolling past a certain point, or from hitting the wall. NOTE:  Fleur-de-Lis and Spade styles have left and right stops; all other styles are non-handed).

Door Guides and Center Guides are backed with a protective covering to prevent scarring the finish on a rolling barn door.

6.  If your door has a rough finish that would not work well with standard center guides, an alternate roller guide is offered.  NOTE: Spade & Fleur-de-Lis have their own alternate roller guide.
